Interview with C. Westberg

What is your real name & stage name?

Just Mark Westberg, or sometimes Mark C. Westberg. I don’t have a specific concrete stage name as of yet.

Where are you from?

Originally Seattle, WA and now currently residing in Santa Fe, NM. I also travel a lot.

What do you do?

I am a freelance artist, performer, and musician, I serve as a director on Santa Fe Human Rights Alliance, I serve as a team member on CHART Santa Fe, and also provide assistance to other artists who may need it.

How long have you been in your industry?

As far as music, I have been writing, recording, and playing music since my early to mid-teenage years.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

One of my favorite personal accomplishments was being selected to create the official t-shirt art for Santa Fe (New Mexico) Pride 2018. The graphic has since been updated as well, and has become one of Santa Fe Human Rights Alliance’s official logos. I’m very proud of it, as well as the impact it has helped make in our community.

How has COVID affected you on your journey?

I personally see it as a relatively positive catalyst challenging me to find ways to be more creative while we all navigate ourselves through these uncertain, unique, and tumultuous times as artists and creators. In that way, the overall situation has helped me evolve, mature, and grow as an artist in many areas.

What's your next move?

I’m going to be continue my service with Santa Fe HRA and CHART and serve our local community, I plan to start doing more live performances (which will hopefully include more live theatre as well as music gigs, and I’m also in the middle of working on a small album project of new original music of mine, titled “Manic Haze”.

Are you working on any projects?

My “Manic Haze” music project as mentioned above, working gradually on getting back into live performances and gigging again, CHART and Santa Fe HRA work, and also creating new paintings/art pieces in my makeshift art studio and hopefully being able to get some of my work into a gallery here in town.

Where do you see yourself in 1 year?

There is a possibility of me acquiring dual citizenship at some point, but that is still being worked on as of currently.

Is there anything else you want people to know about you?

I am also a queer, gender-fluid, and mentally divergent artist, and would love to continue using all that I involve myself in artistically and performance-wise to help empower and inspire my audience and all who may be interested in what I do.
