What is your real name & stage name?
My real name is Cheyenne & my stage name is Cherry (The) Voss. Why Cherry Voss? In high school, my boyfriend used to call me REDD so it stuck. My rap alias became redd, then Cherry happened. Voss is the fancy spin off Boss. Top Tier. Own mind. Own lane.
Where are you from?
I’m from Pittsburgh, PA but have been in Atlanta for the past 6 years. So my sound, to me, is up North with a touch of South.
How long have you been in the music industry?
I’ve been writing since I was a kid but as far as earning income from my art, roughly 13 years.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment in regards to music is learning how to play other instruments. I’m slowly working the guitar in there somewhere. I’m excited. Learning new instruments and learning how to play them to your own tune is an art in itself. It’s invigorating. Also, some personal music related accomplishments that I feel are big, is having the pleasure to meet and speak with musicians that I grew up listening too.
How has COVID affected you on your music journey?
The pandemic pretty much opened my eyes and gave me more insight as well as perspective and motivation to create, freely and expressively.
What's your next move ?
Photo shoots, interviews, indie artist workshops, projects. My focus is pumping out relatable, real and solid content… as well as catchy and creative visuals. You know? Here’s some jewels.. . For U, By U. Support. Build.
Are you working on any projects ?
Yes. As a matter of fact, I have a few in the chamber.
Where do you see yourself in 1 year ?
On my own private island, sippin’ Mai Tai’s and flying to teach kids in countries all around Africa, American Black History and E-commerce. Oh, music wise? All I know is, I better make enough ripple to get a feature from Nasir.
If you could pick one or the other what would you choose, the money or the fame?
That’s easy. The real question is why would one choose being liked by many because of their image over making sure they can provide financial freedom and generational wealth for themselves and their loved ones?
