Interview with @thebestmetoday

1. What city are you from/ Where are you based now?

I was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Mississippi. I ambased in the Bay Area, California now, and I’ve been here for about 17 years now.

2. What is your real name? What is your Stage Name? How did you get your artist name?

Safira McGrew, and I chose ‘thebestmetoday’ about 6 or 7 years ago. I was digging myself out of a traumatic event and was offered an opportunity to help others. I initially intended to convey that I would help others toward their best selves, and I focused on doing that. And ultimately the name sort of became a mantra that I try to embody every day. Now I can confirm that helping others will help you better yourself.

3. At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in your field?

I have always been one to help others, as I started as a tutor at a very young age. As I grew as a person, I have always shared my journey and invited others along. After a string of personal successes, I realized I needed to get my finances in order to continue taking my life to the next level. Financial literacy is probably the most important step in the road to success, and I started on it right away. And as I began solving my issues, I invited others along the way, so we can grow together.

4. Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining you today? If so, how?

Absolutely! I grew up in a strict household, one where I had no voice, opinion, or freedom to make mistakes. I had to learn all of that once I became an adult, and I experienced many growing pains as a young adult. I now look back on those experiences with pride because they gave me character and depth.

5. How would you describe yourself to readers who may not be familiar with you?

I am motivated, driven, and passionately committed to inspire change in my community. I’ve overcome many challenges, and that inspires me to inspire others to overcome.

6. What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to your career?

I have witnessed how investing is elevating people’s lives beyond their wildest dreams, and it is changing mine as we speak. The best investment you can make is in yourself, and it ismy duty to help others tap into the best versions of themselves.

7. What’s one reason you are passionate about your focusand what inspires you?

I live for the transformation that happens in my mentees, not just in the financial sense, but in their whole being. My most memorable transformation is when a mentee went from being scared, unsure of herself, and ready to quit the second day of her journey to being confident in her personal life and really getting to down to focus on building a business of her own. It has truly been a joy to watch her growth.

8. Do you have any hobbies outside of your career? What do you do to stay creative?

I love Karaoke! I can’t wait until they open again lol. I havefound that creating and editing short videos for myself andfriends is helping me stay creative.

9. Who are some of your main musical influences?

Prince, I love his music! Not only was Prince the most amazing performer, but he also broke the mold when it came to financial literacy for artists. He told truth to power and fought back when the establishment tried to silence him. He was a blueprint for knowing your worth. His music and songwriting transcend genres and eras to this day, and I am grateful to have had to opportunity to see him perform in person.

10. What are some of your career goals for the future?

I intend to create 5 six-figure earners this year, and 2021 is ramping up to be one for the record books!

11. Tell us about the project or something that you are promoting. What is it about Also, what is the name of the last thing you released?

I help people generate wealth through investing, and I serve as a mentor to also help people gain valuable skills to become the best versions of themselves – for themselves and their families.

12. What has the response been to the last thing you promoted?

Financial literacy and freedom are important to many people, especially now! The response has been great since many people want and need to improve their financial situations.

13. What are some things you’ve done in the past that you are most proud of and why?

I used to be proud of being a ‘bounce-back’ queen before I realized I wasn’t learning lessons to avoid having to ‘bounce back’. The last five years have been amazing, as I’ve built myself back from a 3-year period where I couldn’t work, lost my apartment and car, to where I replaced all of that in a matter of months. Since then, I completed a couple associates degrees and am finally finishing my BS degree. I am on an upward trajectory, and the best is yet to come! My goal to help others realize that level of self-fulfillment, there’s no better feeling!

14. What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming things we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.

I’m working on building people to levels they didn’t realize were realistically accessible until now. I believe in celebrating wins, so stay tuned!

15. What message do you hope people take away from what you do?

That investing is not as complicated as it may seem, and that there’s probably only one thing holding you back from leveling up - your mindset. That’s it. You must believe that ‘more’ is available, and that you have the ability to get it. After that, the rest will be history.

16. Where can we follow you on social media?

I have active pages on Instagram, , and Clubhouse,
